There are a few specific styles and themes which come alive in the bedroom with the addition of a green tinge. The first that comes to mind is here is the exotic tropical style. Whether you wish to combine a hint of tropical charm with modern aesthetics or want to create a guest bedroom that is full of tropical flair, green is the color to turn to. A splash of bright or mossy green can turn your boring bedroom into a fun and playful space that reminds of your recent holiday trip to a stunning tropical getaway. Another look that revels in green is the beach style and you can replace the traditional white and blue blend with white, green and a hint of orange to create a unique and exquisite bedroom.
Curves or angles? This may be the very question you’re asking yourself as you shop for the perfect bathtub. And if you’re a modern design enthusiast, the choice becomes even more difficult, as there are clean-lined advantages to both approaches. Today we shine the spotlight on round bathtubs, both oval and circular. We’ll take a look at the different styles that can be evoked by round tubs, and we’ll even point you in the direction of some fabulous bathtub sources should you be ready to make a purchase!
Apartment Therapy shows a really interesting bathroom design where a bench on an outer wall extends right through the glass into the walk-in shower. Another great and simple example of a shower with a bench (again from Carla Aston) makes use of wood material for both the bench and flooring. You may not have a ton of room for a full-sized bench, so a corner built-in might work instead. This one featured on Angie’s List looks great in this smaller shower! Another from BHG highlights the top of the bench with white.
We now shine the spotlight on a series of modern powder rooms that are magnificent in their own right. Stone is the material of choice in the bathroom below, which makes the Haven Stone Bathtub with Base from Apaiser an ideal choice for the space! Note how details such as a sculptural pendant light add layers of eye-catching design to this interior. Sometimes less is more, and when the powder room is all about the tub, it’s not a bad idea to go bold. Next we see Apaiser’s Haven Stone Bathtub (this time without the base), and if black isn’t your tub color of choice, note that in true Apaiser tradition, the piece is available in a variety of finishes. Here’s another modern black bathtub in a grey bathroom, and this time the tub is available through Modern Bathroom Vanities.
We end today’s post by highlighting powder rooms with traditional style. Charming wall tile, an arched window and a clawfoot Astonian Luxor tub grace the light-filled bathroom below. While subway tile adds a modern look to this next featured space, striped curtains and (once again) a clawfoot tub put their traditional stamp on the room. In case you’re curious, that fabulous shower rail can be purchased at Lefroy Brooks. Be sure to check out the brand’s lovely bathtubs as well. The silver feet on this clawfoot tub make it a true standout. Surround it with black tile, and you have a powerful contrast that can’t be ignored.
Benches can be great for increasing storage space, given that you can find options that come with cubbies, shelves, and drawers. Check out this bench from Porch.com that has lots of room for extra towels. Another bench featured again on BHG has a drawer pullout where you can store all your accessories. Everyone knows standing up in the shower is the norm, but if you have a disability, or if you just want to safely be able to wash the soles of your feet, a bench in the shower can really help! Keep that in mind for your next shower remodel. Here’s a beautiful marble bench that extends from the subway tile in this shower, featured on BHG. You can get really creative with built-in shower benches by using different types and colors of material, like this example of a black tiled shower from Carla Aston. Or why not just keep it subtle? Extend the tile to include the bench, like this white and pink bathroom featured on BHG.
An armoire can be a lovely addition to your bedroom, even if you already have a giant walk-in closet. If you have enough stuff, you may want to dedicate your armoire to neatly organizing and storing all your jewelry, scarves, purses, handbags, shoes, and other smaller accessories. Do you own enough hats? Simply replace the glass doors with netting for an interesting way to display them.
The modern Cedarvale Ravine House was especially designed by Drew Mandel Architects for a family of four in Toronto, Canada. The infill project has a privileged location in its mid-town residential neighborhood, as it opens up to protected woodlands. According to the architects, the design solution “solves programmatic requirements, maximizes views, provides natural light, and enhances the promenade and transition from sub-urban street scape to contact with very primal forms...
Here’s the catch: San Diego comes with what locals call a “sun tax.” It’s pricey to live in “America’s Finest City” and the surrounding county, and the region perennially ranks among the most expensive in the country. It’s often a landlord’s market on the apartment front, and home prices are well beyond what many locals can afford. Still, millions of people manage to make San Diego their place in the sun. We spent more than 30 hours conducting extensive research on San Diego’s apartments, neighborhoods and residential options. We looked at more than 80 apartment complexes in the San Diego area, categorizing them by location and comparing them with a set list of criteria. Besides basic information such as year constructed, number of units and average rent prices, we factored in community amenities such as outdoor spaces and fitness facilities.
