We now shine the spotlight on a series of modern powder rooms that are magnificent in their own right. Stone is the material of choice in the bathroom below, which makes the Haven Stone Bathtub with Base from Apaiser an ideal choice for the space! Note how details such as a sculptural pendant light add layers of eye-catching design to this interior. Sometimes less is more, and when the powder room is all about the tub, it’s not a bad idea to go bold. Next we see Apaiser’s Haven Stone Bathtub (this time without the base), and if black isn’t your tub color of choice, note that in true Apaiser tradition, the piece is available in a variety of finishes. Here’s another modern black bathtub in a grey bathroom, and this time the tub is available through Modern Bathroom Vanities.

As we alluded to earlier, green and white is a smart combination that works well in a modern bedroom and balances energetic overtones with a serene backdrop. The amount of green you use here depends on the size of the room and the amount of natural light that floods into your bedroom. Smaller bedrooms with too much green might seem both overwhelming and visually cluttered.
Created by Korean designer living in Finland Jiyoung Seo, the SAI Modular Wall Storage Unit raises some questions about the way we use to store our belongings. Spotted on MonkeyZen, the interesting storage unit is made out of small silicone tubes that apparently have an interesting feel when you touch them. The silicone blocks can be arranged in different ways to accommodate different functions. Some cubes change color, acting as...
There’s nothing quite like an old weathered wooden bench to add some character to almost any bathroom, even if the rest of the room isn’t exactly rustic at all. The State of Things shows a semi-rustic style in this farmhouse bathroom, which obviously works quite well, followed by this more modern and minimalist bathroom featured on Atelierul Decor.
Overlooking the Berkshire Hills and the beautiful lake located nearby, Berkshire Pond House is a wonderful weekend family home completed by architect David Jay Weiner in Becket, Massachusetts. The dwelling “was conceived as a folded volumetric sheet enclosure that wraps and folds into itself to form and define the major interior spaces, and tie the house with the landscape.” Built strategically on a densely wooded sloping site, the property, a neat cantilevered house, challenges the inhabitants to explore visually...
The terms ‘contemporary’ and ‘modern’ are often used interchangeably when describing design. It’s a common faux pas and one of which this writer is certainly guilty. In design lexicon the two words have contrasting and quite distinct meanings. Describing their difference at a somewhat rudimentary level: contemporary makes reference to the present-day – that which is current and of the time – whereas modern alludes to the past, specifically that of Modernism (post the First World War) and mid-20th century modern design and architecture.
There are a few specific styles and themes which come alive in the bedroom with the addition of a green tinge. The first that comes to mind is here is the exotic tropical style. Whether you wish to combine a hint of tropical charm with modern aesthetics or want to create a guest bedroom that is full of tropical flair, green is the color to turn to. A splash of bright or mossy green can turn your boring bedroom into a fun and playful space that reminds of your recent holiday trip to a stunning tropical getaway. Another look that revels in green is the beach style and you can replace the traditional white and blue blend with white, green and a hint of orange to create a unique and exquisite bedroom.
If you believe that green does not work in a trendy and minimal contemporary bedroom, then think again! A green accent wall is easy to shape and it brings that much needed warmth to an otherwise cool and mundane interior. Just repeat the color in the room using vivacious bedding, accessories, nightstands or even a couple of lovely vases and you have an inviting bedroom that is both energetic and relaxing. Those who feel that an accent wall in green or décor are not your thing can still add the color by placing a couple of potted plants to fill up those empty corners. It is an easy, eco-friendly and healthy choice to turn to that will instantly alter the mood in the bedroom.
