You’re pretty lucky if you have a large enough window in your bathroom that could use a seating area right beneath it. A bathroom reno featured on Beneath My Heart uses an upholstered loveseat bench with added accent pillows for the window area. How about a built-in? This vanity featured on Home Bunch has a bench area near the window, while this other example (also from Home Bunch) creates a window seat out of a bathroom storage unit. You could also try a bathroom storage unit on a much larger scale with a bench as well, like the third option below from BHG. Built-ins are great, but they’re not for everyone. You could try a simple wicker bench with an elegant cushion to place by your bathroom window, like the one below featured on House of Turquoise.
The kitchen of the future is a perfect mix of science, art and technology The future of the kitchen – otherwise known as the 2063 kitchen While I was in London I attended, Design Junction, a contemporary design show where, among many things, I learned where the modern kitchen is headed. Together science, art and technology are combined to create kitchens that are eco-friendly, healthier, sleeker, and even helpful! Future...

There’s a dash of tropical style in this bathroom, thanks to deck-like flooring, a view of palms, and a tub that mirrors the round shape of a porthole-style window in the distance. This luxe bathroom is filled with glamorous details, such as a plush rug and Mirror Ball pendant lighting. A round tub and two round basins complete the look.
Strathmoor House is a project envisioned by Berkeley-based studio WA Design and located in the East Bay hills in Berkeley, California, USA. The main objective of the architects was to create a home that would offer a high level of privacy, while ensuring unobstructed views towards San Francisco Bay: “To establish privacy we introduced a curved shell wall, clad with cement board panels, that conforms to the street edge and...
The terms ‘contemporary’ and ‘modern’ are often used interchangeably when describing design. It’s a common faux pas and one of which this writer is certainly guilty. In design lexicon the two words have contrasting and quite distinct meanings. Describing their difference at a somewhat rudimentary level: contemporary makes reference to the present-day – that which is current and of the time – whereas modern alludes to the past, specifically that of Modernism (post the First World War) and mid-20th century modern design and architecture.
Acapulco House is a modern two-storey private residence located in Guarujá, Brazil and designed by FCstudio. The imposing residence is made up of six squares grouped in pairs. Within this compositional rule, two subtractions were made at opposite sides to form two venues: the garage in the front and the social area behind. According to the architects, “the logic of the regular squares greatly facilitated the mathematical calculations and the...
What would you say if the coolest spot to have dinner would be… a former chapel? I don’t know about you guys, but I definitely want to try something like this at least once in my life! And since peculiar seems to be the word that describes best the images below, let’s see what does this place has to offer. Welcome to The Jane restaurant, a spectacular spot in Antwerp,...
Apaiser is a great source for luxury round stone tubs, such as the Eclipse Stone Bathtub shown below. In fact, Apaiser tubs are perfect for spaces that showcase building materials such as stone and tile. Soft edges are a highlight of this piece, and it’s also available in a range of hues and materials. Keep in mind that when it comes to the modern powder room, a round tub has the power to soften the bold lines of the space. Yet you don’t have to play it safe with the bathtub, as shown below by a bold selection in black, a Caroma product purchased from Reece.
Green in the girls’ bedroom coupled with pink works surprisingly well and it elegantly complements other colors such as brown and orange as well. Working with more than 3 or 4 bright colors in a room requires great care, perfect planning and a hint of ingenuity that lets each hue standout even while blending with the overall look. While it does sound like a risky proposition, get it right and you will have a playful kids’ room that is a visual treat.
