Marc Thorpe‘s Blurred Collection for Moroso at the Soho showroom in NYC this October revealed an interesting furniture piece. Blur Sofa is covered in a knitted material displaying a gradient pattern. The designer described it as “a sofa with a deliberately indefinite, disappearing shape that casts doubt on the rational concept of scale as it cancels the relationship between space and volume. It plays on creating a feeling of uncertainty as to its size and shape“.
Discovered by our site on Design MIlk, Blur sofa brings a surprising visual effect to a room, its originality leading to interiors with character. The product was developed on a wooden frame covered with different-density polyurethane foam.  The aim of both designer and manufacturer “to push the limits of technology, material, form and space” is successfully reached through this sofa design that intrigues and bewilders…

Don’t overlook these 10 landscaping mistakes this fall
Autumn is the perfect time to sit back and let nature put on a display in your outdoor home. From the changing colored leaves to the cooler temperatures, fall is the perfect season to take advantage of all that the season offers with entertaining and enjoying your family home. Now that the fall season is upon us, don’t think that all your work is done! This season still requires regular lawn, landscaping and curb appeal maintenance to keep your home looking good throughout the winter and into next spring. Here are 10 landscaping mistakes not to make this fall.
While you may be thinking that landscaping only pertains to living plants and ground cover around your outdoor home, your exterior paint color of your home plays a big role in the overall look of your exterior. The fall is the perfect time to opt for a new paint job, or retouching chipping paint and repairing siding before painting can make your landscaping show in the best light.
Exterior house color can perk up any landscaping, especially in the fall
Landscaping can be broken into two smaller categories – soft and hard. Soft landscaping is that which is live and has texture and can be planted. While hardscaping refers to sidewalks, driveways, rocks, mulch and pavers placed around your home for safety, function and beauty. Keep your driveways clean by power washing throughout the fall months and into the winter months.
Window or plant boxes are a great way to add texture to your outdoor home and to add color to the vast majority of color to your siding, brick, or exterior colored surface. Plant boxes are perfect for homes that don’t have a lot of grounds but still want to add greenery to your home’s façade.
Window plant boxes and pressure washing driveways will help curb appeal
If you live in a home that has many mature and older trees in the neighborhood, you may get caught up in the nostalgia of falling autumn leaves, but they can also be dangerous if not raked regularly. Excess fallen leaves can hide sidewalk or walkways that are in disrepair, or can get wet and becomes slippery underfoot for pedestrians. Rake leaves weekly during the fall months to avoid a possible accident.
For many pool homeowner’s the ending of summer symbolizes the ability to stop working on the pool maintenance and forgetting about it until next spring! Think again – even during the fall months your pool will need to keep it’s chemicals balanced levels, but also fallen debris, leaves and bugs will need to be cleaned out weekly.
Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean your pool should be forgotten
Every fall your yard and gardening tools get put away in your garden shed or garage and are forgotten about until the spring. Before you let them “hibernate” for the cooler months, ensure they are all working, cleaned off from dirt and debris and are stored correctly. Don’t let soil, moisture or other debris make your tools unusable in the upcoming seasons.
Just because your fall lawn isn’t growing at the same rapid growth as the summer months, your lawn still needs upkeep such as cutting, and fertilizing.  Look to your local nursery or home improvement garden center for local growing guides based on your climate and demographics. A fall lawn that is fertilized on a fall seasonal routine will help from getting damaged during the colder winter months ahead.
Ensure your lawn is kept cut and fertilized during the fall months
Since autumn is a time when families get busier with school, work and extra-curricular indoor activities, don’t neglect your neighbor’s views and safety in the care of your outdoor home. Remember to keep your shared sidewalks raked free of leaves and ensure overlying tree branches are kept trimmed and safe away from power lines for fall and winter rain and snow storm damage
Keep your driveway and walkway free of fallen leaves this fall
The fall is the best time to start thinking about colorful flowers sprouting in the spring. Check with your local nursery on what flowering bulbs are best to plant now while the soil is still soft before winter’s frost. You will love how your fall planting now will lead to a gorgeous garden in the spring. Ensure you follow grower’s directions and plant them low enough into the ground to prevent freezing of your bulbs and hard work!
Don’t understimate colorful foliage this fall season
While you may think fall means that your outdoor home will lack color, think otherwise with creative and colorful ground covering solutions. Colored wood and rubber mulch varieties provide a gorgeous backdrop for evergreen trees and coniferous plants. Ground hugging plants like cranberry cotoneaster and other hedge plants can make for an autumn show of color your outdoor home will love!

Transforming a 1960?s split-level building into a fascinating contemporary residence resulted in a beautiful combination of old flare and new sophistication. Moore Architects managed to create a stunning collection of spaces gathered in a home named Lakefront Residence. As described by the architects, this home is organized according to the owner’s needs while taking into account the existing building: “Saving the bones of the front to back split-level, the architects sought to use this basic organization to an advantage: exploiting the street side / water side split personality of the residence, but acknowledging that the fun is in the modern connection of the two worlds.
The landscaped street face of the house, containing the entry, office, garage and guest rooms, recalls the reserve and scale of the original house. The rear of the house, with the living and dining rooms, and master suite, explodes into the woods, opening views to the steep hill that plummets to the water below.” Spreading over 4,900 square feet, the remodeled house is located in Falls Church, Virginia, USA. Overlooking the private Lake Barcroft, this unique L-shaped home provides the inhabitants with a fantastic back terrace and a landscape adorned with mature maple trees. Indoor and outdoor merge in a successful effort to bring a sense of living alongside nature, but having all the modern comfort needed by urban dwellers…

Painting the ceiling in green can be a fun alternative and by leaving the walls white, you will still have a neutral and versatile backdrop that will beautifully showcase wall art and sculptural décor additions. And for those who really want a personalized solution, mixing different shades to come with your own custom green hue is indeed an exciting and enjoyable alternative. This trendy and original looking bathtub collection comes from Bagno Sasso AG, a Swiss company headquartered in Landquart. For today we would like to present the models in their ocean-inspired collection, entitled as follows: Shell, Sailor, Circle, Wave and Wing. Each of the products is genuine and has a contemporary, appealing look. Moreover, the bathtubs are customizable, allowing each potential owner to choose from several materials and finishes when ordering a product.
Ocean Shell
Ocean Sailor
Ocean Circle
According to Manuel Dreesmann, the designer of both Ocean Wing and Ocean Wave displayed below, these two bathtubs  fit perfectly into the modern bath lounge. The main structure of both bathtubs is made out of corian which makes the organic and dramatic forms possible. Ocean Wing plays with the natural element of wood outside and the warm and hygienic corian in the inside. The contrast of this materials and the form, which combines this two harmonically, are the key design elements of this bathtub.
Ocean Wing
Ocean Wave is a celebration of a relaxing bath. The spacious and elegant impression invites the resident to take time and escape from the everday life. Because of its extraordinary form it is meant to be placed in the centre of the room.

10 Clever Interior Design Tricks to Transform Your Home

Whether you’ve just moved or are looking for a quick, little home pick-me-up, or perhaps something more significant, there are some well-known interior design tricks that designers employ that you too can easily do with minimal effort and cost.  Sometimes the smallest things make the greatest impact. It could be the addition of a mirror, a painting, a lamp or even a plant. Maybe you want to soften your walls, brighten a room, or add some warmth to your living space. Take a look at these clever design tips and see how they can inspire you!
The living room above is a great example of how to maximize a small living space. A room of this size has the tendency to seem cramped, but the large windows, light colored walls and ample use of mirrors not only reflect the natural light pouring in from the doors and the windows but the use of mirrors also gives the optical illusion of space, making the room seem larger than it actually is. Conversely, darker colors will make a room feel smaller. Even with the abundance of natural light and the strategic placement of the mirrors, this room in a darker shade would have a more boxed-in feel to it.
As seen above, mirrors can also be used to make a small space feel larger. For larger rooms, or any room with a more limited amount of natural light, mirrors placed directly across from the windows, will add instant light. Decorative mirrors can also be used in lieu of art to fill empty wall space. Large or small, mirrors add light and dimension to your living space.
There’s nothing wrong with placing family heirlooms alongside your modern couch. All good interior decorators will tell you that the most important aspect to decorating your home is that it reflects who you are, your personality and your style. The antique Chippendale desk that was your grandfather’s tells a story. It tells the story of your past. The modern couch you fell in love with and simply had to purchase also tells a story, your present story, and there is no reason why the present and past can’t co-exist beautifully together. The same can be said for art. Now you might not want to place a painting by Salvador Dali on the same wall next to a Monet, but there’s no reason why they can’t be in the same room together. With fabrics whether it be furniture, rugs or pillows, varied colors and patterns can bring warmth and texture into your living space.
Slip covers often get a bad rap but they are truly wonderful things. They can serve as a  means of changing your furniture’s look to reflect the seasons. These easily removed coverings allow you to have a sophisticated look without constantly worrying about people dirtying or spilling on your furniture. Slip covers are ideal for rooms used frequently by children. Above the white slip-covered couches gives the air of a casual, comfortable, easy yet sophisticated elegance.
Wicker baskets are an economical and elegant way to add storage to any room. Baskets can be used to store and display books, architectural and decor magazines, toys, towels and blankets to name a few. Place a couple of small wicker baskets on the counter-tops in your kitchen to beautifully display and store your fruit and vegetables.
6. Use what you already have to decorate.
We all have items in our possession, probably packed up in boxes somewhere and haven’t given them a second glance. Your home needs some accessories. Instead of running to the store, take a good look at what you already have. Trays, wooden, acrylic, metal or silver can be placed on top of luggage racks, tea carts, trunks, bedside tables and coffee tables for extra texture and dimension. Arrange candles on them, frames or pile books on top of them. Plates can be hung to create wonderful wall art. Art from children’s books can be framed and hung in nurseries, children’s rooms or their bathrooms. You will be amazed at what you can do with what you already have!
Kitchens are meant to be warm and inviting. We spend much of our time in them whether it be for preparing meals, serving meals or entertaining. A hanging pot rack is useful elegance. Kitchens are meant to feel as though they are in constant use and a hanging pot rack certainly makes one feel this way. In addition to looking so wonderful, (there are many sizes and styles available) additional cupboard space below is now freed up to store other items. Seldom has anyone complained of having too much storage.
Add plants to your living space. Add them to every room, small or large, few or many. Plants are an inexpensive means to accessorizing your space and adding color and texture. Not only are plants beautiful but many can clean household air and balance humidity. They can absorb pollutants and remove harmful gases from the air. No home should be without these wonderful greens!
This instant pop of color will brighten and re-energize any room! It’s amazing how something so simple as a coat of colorful paint can instantly energize and transform your space. This built-in bookcase would be simple and ordinary without the bright blue interior. Perhaps the simplest and most inexpensive way to transform a boring space is to apply a coat of paint somewhere unexpected. Bookcases are an ideal place to start because you don’t need to paint a large area. Other fun places to add a pop of color include painting fireplace mantels, the insides of closets, hallways and ceilings.
Throw rugs give warmth and can add great texture, color and personality to your living space. Hardwood floors are beautiful and easy to maintain but they lack the comfort that carpeted floors offer, especially in the cooler months. Area rugs can add fun and functionality to your living space. Use several of varying patterns and fabrics together to showcase your character. Or add several rugs of the same pattern and fabric, or different textures but the same color. The possibilities are endless. You can change your area rugs to reflect the seasons using warmer tones and fabrics for cooler months and lighter ones for the warmer days of the year. There are many lovely cotton, washable area rugs which are ideal for those homes with children. There really is no reason why a home with young children cannot also be a stylish one.
What inspired you? Personally, I’m just mad about these animal hide rugs that seem to be all the rage lately. The question is, do I go for the cow or the zebra? Or both, and just say that I live in a barn!
